Cedar Incense is highly recommended in the consecration of a magickal wand. A wand carved of Cedar or a cedar blend incense may be used to invoke Odin, as can incense containing Cedar. The spirits of Cedar are believed to be both powerful and persistent.

A piece of cedar kept in the wallet draws money, it is often used in money drawing incenses. It is often an ingredient used in love spells and talismans.

Cedar on its own or in a blend may induce psychic powers. It is also said to allay grief.

The smoke of Cedar is purifying and can aid in the cure to the predilection to having bad dreams. The Hindu practice in which an oracle is invoked when the seer breathes in the smoke of burning cedar until she is overtaken with prophecy.

Copal is said to be cleansing and aid in mental and spiritual endeavours. It opens the soul and stimulates creativity and imagination. The sacred smoke of Copal resin carries messages to the Spirit world, allowing us to see life more clearly and inspires in us divine insights, making it a good choice for meditation. Copal is reputed to aid a person obtaining a meditative or trance state. It allows safe passage into other realms and facilitates safe passage back. Frankincense has been used throughout the ages to enhance spirituality, mental perception, and consciousness. Frankincense can be used to raise the vibrations of a sacred space including Circle Casting. Frankincense is excellent for cleansing and clearing areas of negativity as it uplifts those of the area by realising its own powerful vibrations.

Frankincense soothes the spirit as it slows and deepens breathing making it an excellent choice for meditation. Frankincense is renowned to be a strong purifier as it dramatically raises the vibratory rate of an area including rooms to whole buildings. Gum Arabic has been burnt traditionally to enhance Spirituality. It also offers Purification properties and as such has been used for Purification purposes. The tree from which Gum Arabic ie Acacia spp is sourced is deeply entrenched in legend and myth. Ancient Lore tells us that the Ark of the Covenant, in which the Biblical 10 Commandments were placed, was crafted with this wood, as was the Sacred Tabernacle of the ancient Hebrew tribes.

 

The timber from the acacia tree was utilised throughout antiquity for its water-proof properties. As such the timber was used to fashion various arks including; Noah – of Biblical fame, his counterpart Xisuthros the Armenian who was the hero of the Sumerian flood myth, and of the Sun hero Osiris, the Egyptian God of the Underworld – death, regeneration and rebirth.

Christian lore states that it was acacia thorns that were used to make the crown of thorns that was placed upon Christ’s head at his crucifixion.

Oak is used to bring protection against the ferocity of the elements and the dangers of life. Oak is often used to ask for divine assistance in having our needs met. A tree as long lived and strong as the Oak naturally offers Magickal protection. It also symbolises protection, abundance, fertility, longevity, endurance and triumph. Oak has been used to unite one with the Gods and Goddesses.

 

Oak can either used in an incense or placed within a talisman bag will give the bearer the ability to withstand the lightening blasts of spiritual awareness while remaining firmly rooted in the material or earthly plane. Can also be hung over windows and doors to protect all who reside within from negative/evil spirits.

 

As The Oak is masculine it is an ideal wood for the construction of any tool that needs the male influence such as Athames, certain Wands and Staffs. Today many believe there is no wand as sacred as one that has been made with Oak as it is imbued with great power.

 

The Yule log should always be of Oak. Before the log burns away, always save a small portion for the kindling of the following years Yule celebrations. The remaining ashes should be strewn throughout the land to bring good fortune and wealth in the coming year.
